America is a country with Christian roots and heritage.  Because of this, it is common for people to assume that they are Christian, perhaps because they were brought up in a "Christian" home, or their parents are Catholic.  Or perhaps they accept that moniker because they are simply not Jewish or Muslim and they believe in God.
