When the Lord commissioned me to write the Declaration of Dependence, I felt led to at least attempt to enlist the affirmation of nationally known ministers by offering them an opportunity to sign it. Sometimes, though, it is difficult to discern God's timing with precision. With that in mind, we mailed out the document to more than 90 ministers, the names of most of whom would be easily recognizable. But the response was less than overwhelming (we received only 8 responses, 6 no's and 2 yes's, while we were hoping for 56 signers, as in the original Declaration of Independence). After much prayer, I sought the Lord's will further. Please understand that we are not in the least discouraged about this; to the contrary we are now more excited than ever. Now, here is the exciting part: I am writing a book to accompany the Declaration, a book that will provide a comprehensive explanation of the purpose and the history of the document. Later, if God so chooses, the Signers will come. By that time, I pray that there will be a copy of the Declaration in thousands of Christian homes, signed by their occupants, framed and prominently displayed for all to see. I am praying for that outcome. It represents a symbolic "drawing of a line in the sand." It will serve as a reminder of both the need for national revival, which will begin in our homes, and our total dependence upon God for that revival as outlined in II Chronicles 7:14. UPDATE: The book is now completed, except for normal editing and corrections. Please pray that someone will come forward and help us to publish it. Of course, the primary method we hope to utilize in this endeavor is to go into churches and hold "God in America Again" rallies, as well as putting on these events city-wide and county-wide in various areas around the country. Please pray that God will favor us in this vision. Paul Parsons |
