REVIVAL

I have always found it interesting that churches "have" revivals.  It seems to be a tradition in many of our churches to plan for a two or three day event once or twice annually which they call a "revival."

It has been my experience that some good things often happen during these times, which are only loosely related to revival.  People get saved, recommitted, and renewed.  Perhaps that local church as a whole gets revived for a period.  But it seems to me that this occurs more because of the temporary emphasis the folks in that church place on those things during this period of time which has been designated as "revival."

It has also been my experience that the lasting effects of these planned revivals is also mostly temporary, as after the pew-packing is over, things settle down to a pretty much normal status.  Now, of course, there are a few exceptions of some local bodies remaining in revival for lengthy periods of time, but these seem to be few and far between.

I believe with all my heart that it is appropriate and incumbent upon us all to pray for, expect, and prepare for revival.  But you just can't "have" revival.  The reason is simple; revival depends upon God, not us.

This ministry is all about praying for, expecting, and making preparation.  It has been more than a hundred years since the last great national revival, that led by D. L. Moody, Finney and others.  Prior to that outpouring of God's Spirit, the last great national revival was in the mid-1800's, preparing our country for the civil war.  Before that, it was in the mid-1700's, preparing us for the American Revolution.  We believe that the next great revival is just around the corner.  We must pray for it.  We must expect it.  And we must prepare for it.

Preparation takes us to II Chronicles 7:14, where God tells us exactly what we must do to prepare.  This scripture is covered extensively throughout this website and we won't go any further into it here.
