The Declaration of Independence         The Declaration of Dependence

On July 4, 1776, a document, known now as the Declaration of Independence was signed by 56 influential patriots in America.  That document sealed the beginning of more than a decade of conflict, which would ultimately result in the victorious founding of a new nation - AMERICA!

The Declaration of Independence, worn and tattered now, is on permanent display in the National Archives in Washington D.C.  May it never fade!

Even in its full size, the Declaration of Independence is somewhat difficult to read because of the old style typeset (actually, handwriting) that was used.  So, to make things easier for us, here is what it says in an easier-to-read typeset:

WHEN in the Course of human Events, it becomes necessary for one People to dissolve the Political Bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the Powers of the Earth, the separate and equal Station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent Respect to the Opinions of Mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the Separation.

WE hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness -- That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its Foundation on such Principles, and organizing its Powers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient Causes; and accordingly all Experience hath shewn, that Mankind are more disposed to suffer, while Evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the Forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long Train of Abuses and Usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object, evinces a Design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their Right, it is their Duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future Security. Such has been the patient Sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the Necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The History of the present King of Great- Britain is a History of repeated Injuries and Usurpations, all having in direct Object the Establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid World.

HE has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public Good.

HE has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing Importance, unless suspended in their Operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

HE has refused to pass other Laws for the Accommodation of large Districts of People, unless those People would relinquish the Right of Representation in the Legislature, a Right inestimable to them, and formidable to Tyrants only.

HE has called together Legislative Bodies at Places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the Depository of their public Records, for the sole Purpose of fatiguing them into Compliance with his Measures.

HE has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly Firmness his Invasions on the Rights of the People.

HE has refused for a long Time, after such Dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative Powers, incapable of the Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the Dangers of Invasion from without, and the Convulsions within.

HE has endeavoured to prevent the Population of these States; for that Purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their Migrations hither, and raising the Conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.

HE has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary Powers.

HE has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the Tenure of their Offices, and the Amount and Payment of their Salaries.

HE has erected a Multitude of new Offices, and sent hither Swarms of Officers to harrass our People, and eat out their Substance.

HE has kept among us, in Times of Peace, Standing Armies, without the consent of our Legislatures.

HE has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil Power.

HE has combined with others to subject us to a Jurisdiction foreign to our Constitution, and unacknowledged by our Laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:

FOR quartering large Bodies of Armed Troops among us;

FOR protecting them, by a mock Trial, from Punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:

FOR cutting off our Trade with all Parts of the World:

FOR imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:

FOR depriving us, in many Cases, of the Benefits of Trial by Jury:

FOR transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended Offences:

FOR abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an arbitrary Government, and enlarging its Boundaries, so as to render it at once an Example and fit Instrument for introducing the same absolute Rules into these Colonies:

FOR taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:

FOR suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with Power to legislate for us in all Cases whatsoever.

HE has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.

HE has plundered our Seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our Towns, and destroyed the Lives of our People.

HE is, at this Time, transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the Works of Death, Desolation, and Tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty and Perfidy, scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous Ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized Nation.

HE has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the Executioners of their Friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.

HE has excited domestic Insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the Inhabitants of our Frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known Rule of Warfare, is an undistinguished Destruction, of all Ages, Sexes and Conditions.

IN every stage of these Oppressions we have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble Terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated Injury. A Prince, whose Character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the Ruler of a free People.

NOR have we been wanting in Attentions to our British Brethren. We have warned them from Time to Time of Attempts by their Legislature to extend an unwarrantable Jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the Circumstances of our Emigration and Settlement here. We have appealed to their native Justice and Magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the Ties of our common Kindred to disavow these Usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our Connections and Correspondence. They too have been deaf to the Voice of Justice and of Consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the Necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of Mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace, Friends.

WE, therefore, the Representatives of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, in GENERAL CONGRESS, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the World for the Rectitude of our Intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly Publish and Declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be, FREE AND INDEPENDENT STATES; that they are absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political Connection between them and the State of Great-Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as FREE AND INDEPENDENT STATES, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which INDEPENDENT STATES may of right do. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm Reliance on the Protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.

Recently, the Lord inspired me to write a new kind of Declaration - The Declaration of Dependence.  For some time now, Americans have been so independent that they have tended to forget not only their Christian roots, but also the God who gave them this nation.  At the bottom of this page is a photograph of the unsigned version, an artistic rendition, written in similar handwriting to that of the original Declaration of Independence.  This document will, Lord willing, soon be in Christian bookstores along with its companion book, The Document.

IN CONSENSUS, SEPTEMBER 11, 2006.

The unanimous Declaration of the Body of Christ in America

When in the course of National events, it becomes necessary for His People to re-affirm the Spiritual Bands which have connected them with the God of the Universe, and to assume again those Powers with which they have been granted by the Holy Spirit, a complete Submission to the God of the Bible requires that they should declare the causes that impel them to this reaffirmation.
---------------- We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created of equal value in the eyes of their Creator, that they are endowed by their Creator with the Free Will to obtain Joyous Life in this World, Blessings beyond imaginations, and Eternal Life after Death----That to secure these Gifts, the repentance of sin, and a sincere relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ leading to the personal indwelling of the Holy Spirit of God is essential, that whenever these Gifts are abused in personal endeavours contrary to the Will of God, He has the Inherent Right to Discipline His People, transforming them and conforming them all the more aptly to the Image of Christ, a condition which would seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that the Free exercise of the will of man toward the Acceptance of Christ not be entered into in a light and transient manner, but with sincerity of Heart; and accordingly all Experience hath shewn, that Mankind are more disposed to suffer, while Evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by departing from the life to which they are accustomed and, when provoked and convicted by the Holy Spirit, surrendering their lives to a just and Righteous Saviour. Thus, when a long Train of Abuses and Usurpations evinces a design, developed by, and carried out by the enemy, with the unwitting cooperation of Men, to empower him in his Malevolent transactions, to reduce them under absolute Despotism to a status of secondary Citizens, it is their responsibility to throw off such Evils, evoking the Power of God, and to once more place themselves under the Father’s Authority, Protection, and Blessings. Such has been the patient Sufferance of the Lord, and such is now the Condition which necessitates His people to alter their former status of Spirituality. The History of the present Prince of the Air is a History of repeated injuries and Destructions, all having in direct Object the Establishment of an absolute Tyranny over those known as Christians. HE has refused his assent to the Laws of God, the most wholesome and necessary for the public Good.

HE has influenced Authorities in America to pass Legislation, under the Color of Law, contrary to the Christian principles upon which the Nation was founded.

HE has refused to influence the Passage of Laws which would ease the Facilitation of the spread of the Gospel to large Districts of People.

HE has convened meetings of his demonic hordes in high places, for the sole Purpose of manipulating the Children of God into Activities that render them fatigued and in chaos, preventing their Highest service to the Saviour.

HE has repeatedly attempted to render ineffective unseasoned ministries and their youthful leaders, by opposing them in spiritual warfare, while they were yet Immature and Unequipped to wage effectual battle.

HE has fomented the myth that Persons who speak Truth in the Name of the Lord are unsuited for public office, thereby exposing the inhabitants to the Dangers of Invasion from without and the Convulsions within.

HE has endeavoured to falsify the potential of an imagined Over-Population, resulting in devaluation of Human Life.

HE has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by inducing men to Call evil, good and good, evil.

HE has directed Judges to view the God of the Bible as irrelevant, out-of-date, and inappropriate for Public consideration.

HE has erected Monuments to Evil, and sent hither Swarms of Demons to harass our People and to steal, kill, and Destroy.

HE has kept among us, to thwart our peace and safety, Evil Spirits, without the Consent of the Church at large.

HE has affected to render human knowledge Independent of and Superior to the Word of God.

HE has combined with his minions to subject us to an evil Jurisdiction foreign to the Bible, and unacknowledged by its Doctrine; giving his assent to horrific Acts of Oppression and Possession.

FOR quartering large bodies of demonic Forces among us.

FOR protecting them through Mock science, preventing their overthrow by Spiritual Means, and rendering their Victims helpless.

FOR attempting to Disrupt the spread of the Gospel through all Parts of the World.

FOR encouraging men to Tax churches and ministers, through a false rendering of the American Constitution.

FOR depriving us, in All Cases, of the benefits of justice through the Laws of God.

FOR abolishing the system of Biblical and Constitutional Law in America, through the manipulation of enlightened Men in education and government in the False concept of Separation of church and state, fomenting the continuation of this Lie as an example, and broadening its influence throughout the world.

FOR taking away our Cherished traditions, through mythically rewritten History, altering fundamentally the Forms of our Government and Society at large.

FOR causing Men to thwart the Assembly of God’s people, by any means; declaring Man’s law as superior to God’s law in all Cases whatsoever.

HE has waged Spiritual warfare in attempts to deny Christians the Protection and Blessing of God.

HE has been the sole source of Evil in this Nation, plundering our savings, ravaging the Lives of our children through drugs, Devastating the peace of our cities through crime, and Destroying the potential of our future and the recollections of our past through abortion and Assisted suicide.

HE is, at this time, working diligently to compleat the Works of Death, Desolation, and Tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty and Perfidy, unparalleled in any time or place, and worthy the one, whose Head will be crushed by the Heel.

HE has convinced our fellow citizens, taken Captive from High places, to fall into the temptation of heinous acts, Whose only escape is the Lord’s deliverance.

HE has excited denominational Differences among us, and has endeavoured to bring false doctrine and false prophets to the forefront, to the Destruction of the unity of the Body of Christ.

IN every stage of these Oppressions, when repentant petitions have been repeatedly made to God for Redress in the most humble Terms, these petitions have been answered to the injury of this Tyrannical Prince.

NOR have we been wanting in our Warnings to non-believers. We have warned them often of the consequences that result from Satan’s unwarrantable treachery over them. We have reminded them of America’s Christian roots. We have appealed to the law written on their hearts, of God’s Justice and Magnanimity, and we have attempted to convince them by the ties of our common Citizenship to disavow these Usurpations of God’s authority, which would inevitably interrupt our Fellowship. They, too, have been deaf to the Voice of Justice, of Truth, and of Consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the Necessity, which denotes our Separation from Worldly things, and hold them, as we hold the rest of Mankind, in our hearts with prayers and Godly Love, never Enemies, but forever, potential brothers.

WE, therefore, the Representatives of the BODY of CHRIST in AMERICA, in GENERAL CONCENSUS, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the World for the Rectitude of our Intentions, do, in the Name of Jesus, and by Authority of Almighty GOD, solemnly Publish and Declare, That these United members of the true Church of God are, and of right ought to be, DEPENDENT people upon God for all good things in this life, and for the hope that is laid up for us in heaven, of the life to come; that they are aliens in a foreign land; that they are absolved from all Allegiance to the Temporal, and that all Spiritual connection between them and the darkness of this world, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as BONDSERVANTS and CHILDREN of GOD, they have full power to wage Spiritual warfare, form new Fellowships, support ministry, and do all other Acts and Things which Believers may of right do. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the Protection of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and the Intercession of His Son, Jesus Christ, and the Guidance and Empowerment of the Holy Spirit, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Posterity, and our Sacred Honor, all of which come from, and belong to, God.

Finally, we do hereby dedicate ourselves to the Principles of Humility, Prayer, Relationship, and Repentance.

The purpose of the Declaration of Dependence is two-fold:

First, it is our prayer that every Christian home in America will procure a copy, have it framed, and display it prominently.  This will serve as a daily reminder of our dependence upon God for national revival and of that family's commitment to the principles of II Chronicles 7:14.
